Το World of Coffee επέστρεψε μετά από 2 χρόνια αισθητής αποχής. Η ανυπομονησία όλων ήταν παραπάνω από εμφανής, όπως και ο ενθουσιασμός μας για την επιστροφή αυτού του θεσμού που φέτος έλαβε χώρα στο Μιλάνο. Μια νέα πόλη για τον  specialty καφέ, αφού εξελίσσεται από το 2014 μετά το ιστορικό άνοιγμα του Taglio, από τον φίλο μου Raphael (σχετική αναφορά για την επιρροή του Taglio στο χώρο του specialty καφέ στο Μιλάνο έγινε στο Barista Magazine, στο τεύχος July 2022) (Το Σεπτέμβριο του 2014 στο thecoffeepursuit.com είχα κάνει σχετική δημοσίευση για τη σχέση μου με το Taglio – για την ανάγνωσή του, ανατρέξτε παρακάτω στο σχετικό άρθρο με τίτλο “Some things never change”.)

Στις 22 Ιουνίου, λίγο πριν την έναρξη του World of Coffee, συμμετείχα σε ένα ξεχωριστό event στο Onest (@onest_milano), από την Coffee Collective, ολοκληρώνοντας ένα συναρπαστικό cupping για τα auction lots του 2022 από τη Hacienda Esmeralda Panama.

Στις 23 Ιουνίου οι πόρτες άνοιξαν στο Συνεδριακό Κέντρο του Μιλάνο για να υποδεχθούν coffee professionals και φίλους του καφέ! Η taf συμμετείχε στο Roasters Village, stand 60, σε μία ιδιαιτέρως δυναμική περιοχή της έκθεσης! Ο ενθουσιασμός όλων ήταν εμφανής και οι επισκέπτες είχαν την ευκαιρία να απολαύσουν τη γευστική εμπειρία του καφέ της taf, καθημερινά.

Καθημερινά παρουσιάσαμε τον εξαιρετικό El Guayabo – Κολομβία και τον βραβευμένο El Ruby # 7 COE Honduras 2021. Στις 23/06, παρουσιάσαμε τον εξωτικό Santa Gertrudis Typica – Εκουαδόρ, στις 24/06 την εμβληματική Elida Geisha – Panama και στις 25/06 τον μοναδικό To-La Reserve – Αιθιοπία. H taf φιλοξενήθηκε επίσης στο περίπτερο της Toddy, εταιρίας συστημάτων για Cold Brew, όπου προσφέρθηκε o Yirgacheffe Tola, Ethiopia, και διοργανώθηκε ένα ξεχωριστό cupping session με τον To-La Reserve – Ethiopia. Οι άρτια εκπαιδευμένοι barista της taf, Πένυ Χαλκιαδάκη και Γιάννης Γιαννακόπουλος, ολοκλήρωναν εξαιρετικές παρασκευές και πληροφορούσαν τους coffee lovers για τα ξεχωριστά cup profiles των καφέδων της taf.

Με ιδιαίτερη χαρά υποστηρίξαμε τον Έλληνα competitor του παγκόσμιου διαγωνισμού World Coffee in Good Spirits, Χρήστο Κλουβάτο, ο οποίος κατέκτησε την 6η θέση χρησιμοποιώντας την εντυπωσιακή Geisha El Burro – Panama ως βάση για τα cocktail που παρουσίασε.

Είναι πάντα μεγάλη χαρά και τιμή να συναντάμε σε παγκόσμιους θεσμούς στο περίπτερο της taf, συνεργάτες παραγωγούς καφέ, με τους οποίους η taf διατηρεί μακροχρόνιους δεσμούς μέσω του προγράμματος Direct Relationship.

Για ακόμα μια φορά, είχαμε την ευκαιρία να μοιραστούμε τον ενθουσιασμό μας σε ένα τόσο ξεχωριστό γεγονός!

Μία πραγματικά ξεχωριστή στιγμή για εμένα, ήταν όταν με πλησίασε αιφνιδιαστικά η Jazmin (@jazminbarista), θυμίζοντάς μου ότι το έτος 2014 είχαμε συνεργαστεί στα σεμινάρια καφέ του εμβληματικού Taglio, που άνοιξε το χώρο του specialty στο Μιλάνο, με το οποίο είχαμε μακροχρόνια και σημαντική συνεργασία.

Μια ξεχωριστή εμπειρία ήταν η συμμετοχή μου στο cupping με του exclusive και exotic varietal collection (Costa Rica 2022) με τον αγαπημένο μου φίλο Francisco Mena.

Στο #WOCMilan δεν θα μπορούσε να μην μας εντυπωσιάσει ευχάριστα το ότι είδαμε μια σε βάθος εξέλιξη του κλάδου, ακόμα και σε επίπεδο μηχανών. Σύγχρονες μηχανές της κατηγορίας professional ή home, και πολλά υποσχόμενες τεχνολογίες από εταιρείας μύλων καφέ, δίνουν πλέον ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην ακρίβεια και στην καινοτομία για το καλύτερο τελικό αποτέλεσμα!

Η επόμενή μας συνάντηση, θα είναι το 2023, στην Αθήνα! Μια δυναμική χρονιά είναι προ των πυλών και στο World of Coffee – Athens είμαι σίγουρος ότι θα δημιουργήσουμε τις πιο εντυπωσιακές στιγμές!

World of Coffee 2022- Milan

World of Coffee is back after 2 years of noticeable absence. Everyone’s impatience was more than obvious, exactly like our excitement for the return of this event that took place in Milan this year. A new city for specialty coffee, since it has been evolving since 2014 after the historic opening of Taglio, by my friend Raphael (a related post on Taglio’s influence on the specialty coffee scene in Milan was made in Barista Magazine, in the July 2022 issue) (In September 2014 on thecoffeepursuit.com there was a post about my relationship with Taglio – to read it, see below the related article I posted, named “Some things never change”.)

On June 22nd, just before the beginning of World of Coffee, I partcipated in a special event at Onest (@onest_milan), by the Coffee Collective, completing an exciting cupping for the 2022 auction lots from Hacienda Esmeralda Panama.

On June 23rd, the doors opened at the Milan Convention Center to welcome coffee professionals and coffee lovers! Taf participated in the Roasters Village, stand 60, in a particularly dynamic area of ​​the exhibition! Everyone’s enthusiasm was evident and visitors had the opportunity to enjoy taf’s coffee tasting experience, every day.

Daily we served the outstanding El Guayabo – Colombia and the award winning El Ruby # 7 COE Honduras 2021. On 06/23 we served the exotic Santa Gertrudis Typica – Ecuador, on 06/24 the iconic Elida Geisha – Panama and on 06/25 the unique To-La Reserve – Ethiopia. The taf was also hosted at the booth of Toddy, a Cold Brew systems company, where Yirgacheffe Tola, Ethiopia was offered, and a separate cupping session was organized with To-La Reserve – Ethiopia. The highly trained taf baristas, Penny Chalkiadakis and Giannis Giannakopoulos, completed excellent preparations and informed coffee lovers about the special cup profiles of taf coffees.

We were particularly happy to support the Greek competitor of the World Coffee in Good Spirits competition, Christos Klouvatos, who won 6th place using the impressive Geisha El Burro – Panama as a base for the cocktails he presented.

It is always a great pleasure and honor to meet in global events at the taf stand, partners coffee producers, with whom taf maintains long-term relationships through the Direct Relationship program. Once again, we had the opportunity to share our excitement at such a special event!

A really special moment for me, was when Jazmin (@jazminbarista) approached me out of the blue, reminding me that in the year 2014 we had collaborated in the coffee seminars of the iconic Taglio, which opened the specialty coffee scene in Milan, with whom we had a long and important collaboration.

A special experience was my participation in cupping with the exclusive and exotic varietal collection (Costa Rica 2022) with my dear friend Francisco Mena.

At #WOCMilan we couldn’t help but be pleasantly impressed to see an in-depth development of the industry, even at the machine level. Modern machines of the professional or home category, and promising technologies from a coffee grinder company, now place special emphasis on precision and innovation for the best final result!

Our next meeting will be in 2023, in Athens! A dynamic year is just around the corner and at World of Coffee – Athens I am sure that we will create the most impressive moments!
